In its early years, the institute faced challenges typical of nascent educational institutions, operating with minimal facilities and resources. However, through unwavering dedication and the support of various governmental and non-governmental agencies, as well as passionate individuals, the institute persevered and overcame these obstacles. The commitment to academic excellence remained steadfast, driving the expansion of infrastructure and resources to enhance the educational experience for students.
A significant milestone in the institute’s evolution was the relocation to its current campus in Kochuveli. This move marked a pivotal moment, providing the institute with the space and facilities needed to further its mission of academic excellence and innovation. The new campus served as a catalyst for growth, enabling the institute to offer enhanced learning opportunities and create a conducive environment for holistic development.

Through initiatives such as the College Disciplinary Committee, Anti-ragging Cell, and Women Cell, the institute promotes a culture of respect, integrity, and responsibility among its student body. Through perseverance and a relentless pursuit of excellence, UIT gradually garnered recognition for its unwavering commitment to providing a holistic and enriching educational experience.
A pivotal moment in UIT’s trajectory occurred in July 2017 when the institution commenced operations at Vallakkadavu, Thiruvananthapuram. Offering two career-related courses – BCom (Commerce with Computer Application) and BBA (Business Administration) – UIT marked its initial foray into the educational landscape. Despite the initial success, further admissions were suspended in subsequent academic years due to infrastructural inadequacies.
However, UIT’s narrative took a transformative turn with the unwavering support of key stakeholders, including the then MLA Sri. V.S. Sivakumar and the General Education Department, Government of Kerala. In August 2019, UIT received permissive sanction to build a new building and the dilapidated buildings were renovated with the sponsorship of noble minds and local people and campus of the Shambhuvattom Government L.P School located at Kochuveli. This marked a significant milestone in UIT’s evolution, providing the institution with the much-needed space and facilities to enhance its educational offerings.
By August 2020, UIT successfully completed its transition from Vallakkadavu to Kochuveli, marking the beginning of a new chapter in its history. Renamed as the University Institute of Technology, Regional Centre – Veli, the institution symbolised growth, expansion, and a renewed commitment to excellence. The move to the new campus represented a pivotal moment in UIT’s journey, reaffirming its dedication to providing quality education to its students.
